History of Full Gospel Fellowship Church / White Oak Worship Center
Full Gospel Fellowship Church was organized on June 12, 1977 by a group of people with an aim and desire to see the
lost saved. The church was chartered with the City of Danville, Virginia on October 8, 1977 with sixteen members. God provided
a place of worship on Ridge Street in downtown Danville and the first service at that location was held on June 19, 1977.
Full Gospel Fellowship was organized to:
- Provide a place of public worship in the City of Danville, Virginia
- Provide a place of public worship in the freedom of the Spirit of God which is intended for all
- Promote religious worship in accordance with our beliefs
- Unite the members and others into a church organization
- Establish and maintain a church with various ministries to minister to all people regardless of age, race or gender.
- Further other Christian ministries and charitable works
The Lord prospered the church spiritually and financially, and in November 1977, we purchased three acres of land on Luna
Lake Rd with an additional 3.5 acres obtained in February 1978. During this year, the members agreed to implement plans for
a new church building. Rev. Neal Isom was pastor of Full Gospel Fellowship during this period.
The groundbreaking took place in December 1978, and the construction began in March 1979 with completion in August 1979.
During these four months, our builders, Brother Arthur Thomas and Brother Stuart Ewing worked along with other men of the
church who donated their time and labor in construction. On August 5, 1979, the first service was held in the new sanctuary
on Luna Lake Rd.
From July 1979 through February 1980, the church was without a pastor. Brother Roger Ewing was voted in as interim pastor
during this period, and on February 16, 1980, was elected as pastor of Full Gospel Fellowship.
The church family continued to grow, and in 1982, plans were completed for a new sanctuary that would approximately seat
450 to 500 people. Groundbreaking took place in October 1982 and the sanctuary was completed in October of 1984. The first
church service in the new sanctuary was held on October 21, 1984 with approximately 500 in attendance.
The Lord continued to grow the ministry here and in 1989 a new fellowship hall was constructed and in 1994 a new gymnasium
was constructed at the Luna Lake Road campus.
In 2002 the church had the opportunity to purchase approximately 10 acres of land at the intersection of R.L. Smith Dr
and US Highway 29 in Blairs, VA. The land was quickly paid off and plans were made to relocate the church to the Blairs
property. In the summer of 2007 Pastor Ewing received confirmation from the Lord that it was indeed time to build. On May
4, 2008 the church broke ground to construct a new worship facility to include: a sanctuary, offices, fellowship hall and
classrooms.
The first service at the Blairs location was on June 14, 2009 with approximately 600 in attendance. With the relocation
to the Blairs area, it was decided to formally change the name of the church from Full Gospel Fellowship Church to White Oak
Worship Center.
To God be the honor and glory for what has been accomplished during the last 30 years in the life of Full Gospel Fellowship
Church. Through Him and His love, we praise Him, and His anointing and blessings here at White Oak Worship Center!
